Norwood, Massachusetts Seven Car Crash Ends in Tragedy

January 3, 2014 – Elefthria Pantekidis, 71, of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained as a passenger in a vehicle involved in a seven car pile up on Route 95 Northbound. According to Police, Milton McCarthy, 23, from Dorchester, lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail, and spun towards oncoming traffic causing three subsequent collisions. The accident occurred at approximately 2:09 a.m. on Wednesday near the Neponset Avenue exit in Norwood.

Pantekidis was a passenger in a sedan operated by Haralambos Kosmidis, 75, also of Jamaica Plain. Pantekidis was transported to Norwood Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. McCarthy was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Kosmidis and another of his passengers, Georgios Pantekidis, 78, of Jamaica Plain, were also treated at Norwood Hospital. A fourth passenger, Elpida Kismidis, 68, of Jamaica Plain, was taken to Boston Medical Center. McCarthy’s passenger, Kendell Thompson, 25, of Boston, was not injured in the crash.


Berardino Santeusanio, Jr., 55, of Billerica, drove the third vehicle involved in the crash. Paul Redmond, 62, of Dorchester and his passenger Zachary Zinger, 24, of Brooklyn, New York were in the fourth vehicle. Arnaldo Lopes, 32, operated the fifth car with passengers Samoel Antunes, 23, and Patrick Goncalves, 22, all of Brockton. The sixth car was driven by Ronald Gonzalves, 53, of Hyde Park and Stacey Bourlos, 20, of Foxboro, operated the seventh vehicle.

No criminal charges have been issued at this time and the Massachusetts State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
