Amherst, Massachusetts: Pedestrian Dies in Tragic Accident

August 5, 2014 – Hannah Frilot, 20, of Amherst, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries she sustained after being struck by a car.  The accident occurred on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at approximately 11 p.m. on North East Street in Amherst.

According to the Amherst Police Department, the driver, a 63 year old woman, was traveling northbound on North East Street when she hit Frilot and her friend.  After hitting the two pedestrians, the driver stopped and called police.  The driver remained at the scene of the accident and has been cooperating with the investigation, but her identity has not yet been released.  Frilot was pronounced dead at the scene, and her friend was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution, but she was not seriously injured.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Amherst Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
