With another Avaulta transvaginal mesh injury trial against C.R. Bard scheduled for trial this month, women and defective medical devices attorneys all over the US will be watching to see what happens. Unfortunately, for what maybe thousands of women, the injuries caused to them by a Bard Avaulta TVM product cannot be undone. Since at least 2005, the US Food and Drug Administration has received reports of complications linked to this mesh implant device. Already, hundreds of Bard Avaulta TVM cases have been submitted as part of multidistrict litigations.
Bard Avaulta Transvaginal Mesh
This product is supposed to help a woman suffering from stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and pelvic organ prolapse (POP) , hopefully alleviating the discomfort and pain that comes with these conditions. Unfortunately, this particular mesh implant, manufactured by C.R. Bard, has been linked to serious health complications, including bladder issues, urinary problems, vaginal injuries (bleeding, infections, scarring, shortening), perforation/puncture injuries (to the intestines, bowels, bladder, or blood vessels), recurring POP, recurring SUI, and even sexual problems.
Common Bard TVM incidents have been known to involve mesh erosion or extrusion, or a lump or protrusion in the vagina or its opening. Surgery (and in some serious transvaginal mesh defect cases, multiple procedures) may be required to remedy the resulting injuries. That said, in some instances, Bard Avaulta TVM injuries cannot be reversed and a woman may continue to experience pain and other complications for life.
