Adjust Your Morning Commute

Now that the fall season is back, the morning commute just got a little bit more complicated. With parents dropping their children off at school and picking them up after classes and children headed to and from school on bicycles or on foot, the morning commute is likely to get more busy – and that can mean more dangerous.

Unfortunately, younger children don’t always look out for cars or obey the rules of the road as pedestrians. That means that you as a drive in Hollywood or Florida need to look out to make sure you don’t cause a pedestrian accident. How can you adjust your driving so that your morning commute is a little less chaotic? There are a few things you can do:

1) Leave early.

Give yourself extra time in the morning to get to your destination. This will help you avoid aggressive drivers as well as the frustration of being stuck in traffic when you’re already late. Giving yourself extra time lets you relax and focus on driving. Extra time reduces your risk of speeding or distracted driving, which can help prevent intersection accidents.

2) Check traffic reports.

Use apps to stay aware of traffic and weather conditions in your area so that you can adjust your route as necessary. Knowing what the conditions out there are can help you make the best decisions so that you can get to work safely and efficiently.

3) Put away all distractions.

Distracted driving is always dangerous, but it is even more so during the school year, when there may be children walking to and from school. Keep in mind that not all children know traffic rules and some may run out into the road. Being completely focused on your driving and driving defensively helps you avoid pedestrian accidents, even if children are acting recklessly on their morning walk.

4) Consider taking public transit or carpooling.

Carpooling can take some of the pressure off you and allows you to let someone else drive, which can help you get a few extra minutes of sleep. Public transit also allows you to relax and lets someone else do the driving. Mass transit and bus accidents are far less common than car accidents in Hollywood and the rest of Florida, so choosing public transit is not only a greener alternative but can also keep you safe.

5) Keep your car in good shape.

If you do need to brake suddenly, you want to know that your car’s tires and brakes can stand up to the occasion.

6) Know where the schools are on your morning commute.

You may enjoy a faster commute to work and be able to drive more safely by avoiding heavy-traffic school areas, where school buses, parents, and pedestrians can jam and slow down traffic.

I had a lawyer on another case and I never spoke to the lawyer and I hated that I never knew what was going on in my case. Mr. Flaxman was in constant communication with me, explained everything to me, and his staff was really great too. My phone calls were always returned immediately. It was refreshing to be able to speak to my attorney personally. I would HIGHLY recommend Mr. Flaxman as an attorney to anyone who has been in an accident. Gloria
